progress... somewhat

here's my most recent board. i've definitely shifted from my initial percolation presentation to L-systems.

Grasshopper for Brownian Motion (three dimensional)

Grasshopper for Brownian Motion (two dimensional)

The script for the rotating XYZ objects, I got from Jin's script then modified it for manipulations across the XYZ plane. The pictures do not do themselves justice so try the script! And see what happens.

crystal growth

Right now I'm looking at the concept of triclinic crystal growth. To create the forms, I'm using the "Blend Box" feature under the XForm tab tab.

Voronoi: Generate Random Points

progress? maybe...

so i've decided to switch over to studying something more related to L-systems.
my studio project began with the study of the human vascular system and its branching components. i would like to explore some kind of definition that would allow me to recreate the branching system i noticed in my initial photo.

see presentation below:

now i'm stuck trying to make the L-system script 3D. i think there's a way to do it and i've definitely seen examples online but i haven't had the chance to explore them myself.

stay tuned for more...

Ripple Surface

Using a similar attractor point/distance logic to the flocking panels, I created a surface from Cosine waves radiating out from three attractor points.

Flocking Panels

Here is my first stab at animating out of grasshopper. This video shows my "flocking" panels in action. I exported bitmap frames by right clicking on the sliders of parameters that I wanted to animate, then selected "animate," and compiled the images in iMovie on a Mac.

percolation

so here's my little presentation on percolation. hopefully the stuff i post throughout the rest of the semester will be way cooler... no promises though.
